Databases Beginner

Basically I know quite a lot of the SQL language, Access and VB, but Im not sure of all the jargon surrounding database connectivity - ODBC, DAO etc etc, I was looking for resources (preferably websites) which explain from the bottom up.... Im sure theres a lot of people in this situation...
