A proxy server is a computer(server) that routes all internet requests of computers connected to it. This means that you can control internet access, filter it, control requests/responses etc. It also means that if you connect to an external proxy server, you can bypass local internet connection stuff, and using that external proxy.

If you tell me why you need to know, then i can help. Do you need to set a proxy server, get proxy details, intercept proxy servers, block a proxy server, etc?
