Y not every thread have a unique number (maybe a hex one) so the reference to it will be much easier (especially if it is an old one)

Another question, what is this &stc=xx after an attatchment link ?
The link works without that part.

It's a bit complex, it affects when the attachment counter is updated. If the parameter is present its value is always 1, other values have no effect. Basically you can ignore it.

I believe the "stc" identifies when you have only one image attachment to your post and it displays the image instead of a link.
