Every language has its benefits. It all depends on what your application needs to do.

In one situation C# might be the preferred why to go. In another instance, ASP.NET might be the way to go. In still a third instance, VB.NET might be preferable.

Is this just a general question or do you have a specific application in mind?

Question is a little strange (to me at least)...
C#, VB.Net are "full scale" programming languages and ASP.Net is designed for Web development only.

EDIT: since release of .Net ASP is no longer VB Script or html specific - you may choose any language available within the framework (C#, VB.Net...) to actually write your code.

Yes like Rhino said ASP.NET is not a language. I write occasional ASP.NET stuff using C#.

Yes, sorry, didnt make myself very clear.

I was just wondering is it better to use C# or VB.Net when developing applications in ASP.Net??

The application I have in mind is a CMS for storing documents, media files etc.

I have been using VB.Net for desktop applications since October, and have been developing in Classic ASP for years, but I have not done anything at all using C#, I have a wrox book at home for ASP.Net with C# and was thinking maybe I would be better sticking with what I know for now and getting a new book on ASP.Net with VB.Net.

    Thanks

Well, it's the same debate as for desktop apps - there is not really a difference, it's down to your preference.

My preference is VB.NET for ASP.NET and C# for desktop apps even though I'm still learning C# and am real slow with it.

    Its all the same though.

    Re: C# or just VB

Since both (C# and VB.Net) share the same framework they both have access to every feature framework has to offer so with that in mind since VB.Net has more user friendly syntax (in oppose to C#'s being case sensitive, etc, etc...) I preffer VB.Net and not sure if I even want to go back to that rediculous (c++ or java type) syntax again.
