I'm useing the addres of procedure to get mouseeents from the wondows systemtray in a Tray icon ocx I'm making. Is there some way i can tell my activeX to unload when the stop button is pushed in vb so that the subclassing doesn't crash vb or some other way I can get the mouse events from the tray that won't crash vb when stop is pressed. I mean that make the control pretty unusable to anyone but me......

Have a look at this:

http://www.vb-world.net/tips/tip61.html

It shows how to put an icon in the try without proper subclassing.

as for proper subclassing, theres a complicated article at VbAccelerator on just what you asked..
but as i say, its complicated (well for me)
www.vbaccelerator.com (http://www.vbaccelerator.com)
they have a solution there, too, in the form of a DLL that does some dodgy stuff :)
