Assign datevar first of current month [Resolved]

I have a datevar 'firstofmonth' in Crystal Reports. I'm trying to set that variable to be the first of the current month and year. My thinking is something along the lines of: firstday := month(currentdate) & 1 & year(currentdate)

Anyone know the correct syntax for this?

firstday := date(year(currentdate) , month(currentdate) , 01 );
