Crystal REPORTS please help

environment :SQL server,vb.net
I am still new at using crystal reports v7. i have two 'supposed to be simple' problems;
1.I just want to represent a one to many relationship using main and subreport,I have tried it using subreport wizard but since am not very skilled I got stuck somewhere.Could you advice a better way to do this???
2.how to define Date range parameters to retrieve related records from the database?I have tried to go through help documents but it didnt work out.please help .

For the first question, if i get it right, i think you should use the report/page header for the One side and the details section for the many side.

For the second, you should try to perform the filtering on the server and send just the data you need to the report....
