Does this mean the end of the rational world as we know it?

ok, now it's in doubt.

Gore retracts his congratulary phone call. Votes have to be re-counted (difference of only 1200 votes in Florida, thats 1200!)

Looks like it's still on!

can't say there was that much of a selection this time, Ross Perot should have gave it a shot this year he may have had a chance to beat these 2 boobs

Just saw the thread title. Sorry, folks, but the fat lady
hasn't sung yet. 1700 vote differential with 10 times that
many absentee ballots do not a victory (necessarily) make.

hell with the recount , if i was Gore i would pull out the official playground rulebook and call for a "Do Over"

Nov 8th, 2000, 10:49 AM
I can't believe it - Americans didn't like Clinton for having a little sex in the Oval Office - but they elect a Coke snorting, Drunk driver for prez!

If you see that presidential limo coming down your street - get off the sidewalk hehe

I am still holding out for the recount in Florida. Bush is a simpering little twit. He speaks English worse than most Americans do (and that's pretty poorly).

I'm thinking of scoping out Australia for my next residence. Listening to Jethro has piqued my interest. I've never tried a Yalumba Signature or Cloudy Bay wine or a Swan (lite or otherwise) . I've lived a sheltered life I guess.

Hey Barrk,

DO the citizens of the USA speak English? I thought the official language round your way was going to be Spanish!

Hope you get the pres you want...

How about Ralph Nader after Gush and Bore both concede defeat:D

Cheers (and goodnight),

Paul.

;)Make a big deal about someone who was caught drinking and driving 25 years ago ;) , like you people dont drink or do ANYTHING bad. ;)

;)
I mean it WAS 25 years ago after all, and by what he said ..he hasnt touched the stuff since so lighten up on bush. ;)

Who/Where/What kind of fantasy life do you live in after all?? where no one drinks and no one does drugs and no one has sex and no on dies... well i can tell you dont live in reality. ;)
cause everyone does it.

Leave it to florida..hehehe i as i was going to bed last night...someone said on the local news that gore had florida in his grasp..then i woke up this morning and it is in no one's hands.. hehe OH WELL!!

Nov 8th, 2000, 12:51 PM
Luckily THAT facist b******* (Buchanon) can crawl back into
the cesspit he crawled (leaving a trail of slime) from. he
spent 12 million dollars for < 500,000 votes. Hell, I know
Alabama county sheriffs that can buy more than that...for a
LOT less than $12million.

The Alabama amendment repealing the 1904 anti-miscegnation
law passed....60% to 40%

Has that law been enforced lately or has it just been riding the books and ignored? Why would anyone allow their own government to legislate who they can marry anyway?

jdavison
Nov 8th, 2000, 12:55 PM
Hey, we all amke mistakes in our life. Now I criticised Clinton about the drug thing but for different reason. Clinton lied about it, got caught, and then lied again. Then the american people(not all) in their inifinite stupidity, elected him. I'm sorry to say Clinton has been the worst president in the history of our country. The only thing he has behind him is the prosperity of our country and that is even because of him. Our prosperity began before he was even in office. But what can you expect from a 2-bit con man. And gore is worse. He has lied and fluctuated on every issue throughout the campaign. At least Bush(both of them) Take responsibility for when they were wrong unlike Clinton/Gore. Hell, Gore even sell out his votes. Gore is SCUM!

Nov 8th, 2000, 01:02 PM
Far as I know, it hasn't been enforced since 1967.

What kills me is that 545,000 voted to KEEP the law on the
books. This wasn't a mistake either. We had several
amendments to vote on and the results were markedly
different in each. ie: They voted that way because they
wanted to.

Welcome to 1984.

With the likely upsurge in Americans seeking Political asylum in Australia, with have started constructing more refugee camps. Of course you will all have to go to Port Headland first, so we can be sure that you are really political refugees....don't worry they've cut it down to a five year turn around.

or

you could wait till next year when we have thrown out our facist government, then you could just come on over and move right in. Don't worry Bush's minders wont be able to find you, let's face facts he couldn't find his own ass with both hands.

This election is getting more and more bizarre. According to reports down under they are now checking individual voting slips to ensure that the tab you punch out is actually separated from the voting form:(

Nov 13th, 2000, 07:51 AM
What makes you think I'm a yuppie?

Anyway, I'm no longer in the military and wouldn't even recommend it to anybody as long as Clinton/Gore are in office. Clinton, Hillary, and Gore are nothing but con men. They have a consistent record of dishonesty and deception through their whole administration. I can honestly say that this has been the worst administration ever. At least Bush has a record of doing what he says he wants to do and to be honest what he wants to do is probably what is best for the country at the time. Atleast when he is confronted with something he takes responsibility for his mistake instead of lying and making excuses for it. Now that I have gotten of track a bit, I was wrong about the absentee Ballot count, I missunderstood what CNN Said but bush is still up by about a 1000 vote(961 to be exact)

Nov 13th, 2000, 08:04 AM
Sorry, J, but the kudos for most dishonesty would have to
go to Nixon.

Remember "We have no troops in Cambodia".....well we did.

That was quite a while ago and different candidates, I'm talking strictly about Bush and Gore. Sorry to say Gore by far takes the cake as far and lying, deception, and total dishonesty. He may even be worse than clinton.

Seems a bit of a disconnect, since Bush (Jr.) has never had
a presidential administration, only a state one. and Gore
has never had a state administration. Can't have it both
ways.

td.

Nov 13th, 2000, 08:55 AM
J, your post of 11-13-2000 08:51 AM references the
Clinton/Gore administration as the most dishonest EVER.
This just is not so.

You then claim that "that was long ago"...yeah, long enough
ago so that the worst of the pain of seeing buddies get
clobbered while being somewhere they weren't is over. It
WASN'T that long ago.

Now it's: "This is strictly between Bush and Gore"...well,
Clinton seems to figure very prominently in all your
diatribes. Your Clinton hating roots are showing.

DerFarm

No, TD, this is not going to turn into a fight. This is my
last post to this thread.

jdavison
Nov 13th, 2000, 09:46 AM
I didn't say they were the most dishonest although a case could be made for that. I said that it was the worst administration. There is a big difference in that statement.

Tumblingdown, this isn't a fight just a discussion on our disagreements. I think it is good to discuss these issues so that at the very least people come out with a strong understand of their stance on them.

I just find that most democrats never try to understand the truth behind the issues and stick to their party. I am making strictly a generalization of what I have found through my experience and I am not attempting to label anyone. But from the stances and what I have seen at the federal goverment level the Democratic party have been taking a socialistic stance on their issues. They have made great stride on taking away our right through time and it has been such a gradual thing the the general public does not even notice. Now Gore wants to take guns away from the public. what will this solve. It wll only make things worse. now the american population will be completely defenceless to the criminal element who will still have guns. This is wrong. It is our constitutional right. But then again that party has redifined most of what the constitution say anyway.

Nov 13th, 2000, 03:14 PM
You are holding out hope that some guy who didn't have a job till he was forty, and then in politics, will be the best leader for your country......lol.....now he really knows about how the average american's situation.

And l have seen the bill for your private humvee, come on a six stack cd in the boot.

jdavison
Nov 14th, 2000, 08:23 AM
Gore never had a real job and the job he has had in politics he never did right anyway. Come on the man sells his votes for air time. At least Bush has a record of trying to do what he said he would do.

HarryW

Will you gun-lovers please stop harping on about how it's "a constitutional right" for every idiot to have his/her own private arsenal?!? It's a bloody stupid idea! I'm not going over it again, but just for once stop reading your constitution and using that to decide what's sensible, that's like taking your opinions from the back of a cornflakes packet (a 200 year old cornflakes packet at that) and think about what the real benefit of everyone having guns is, and what the benefit of a gun-free society (except for lifestyle criminals) would be. I recommend that just for a change you remember that America isn't the whole world and that there are other countries that manage just as well (if not better) without a gun-carrying population.

On another point, what is it with your phobia for anything even slightly socialist? I don't think there's any danger of the US turning to communism any time soon. Some socialist ideas are damn good if you ask me - like a public health service for instance. How about a nationalised air traffic control service? I think that there are some things that benefit from being controlled from a central point. Not that this needs to be the government, but the government should work on different principles to a company, ie the best interests of the country rather than the best interests of their profits.

I expect you'll start calling me a communist or someting now but I assure you I'm not. I like the free market economy and I certainly wouldn't want to swap it, but as with most things in life, there are good ideas and bad ideas in the different methods. Just because something smells like it might be vaguely socialist isn't a good reason to dismiss it.

Why do you affiliate yourself with a particular political party? Do you actually believe that any one party represents all your opinions? I wouldn't dream of calling myself 'a labour supporter' or 'a conservative supporter' or 'a lib dem supporter' or anything like that, because I know damn well that none of them actually represent me properly. I don't understand why people argue, saying 'you democrats' or 'you republicans' and 'well I'm a democrat/republican so I think...', it just seems like a really odd way of thinking.

Anyway I'm going to shut up now.

You make some very valid points and your opinion well taken. Don't feel that you have no right to state your opinion here. I agree with you on many points. It's nice to see that there are some rational people out there.
