Moving(Dragging) records to another location in DBGRid

Hi , I'm using a dbgrid cntrl and a data cntrl.

I am wishing to drag records from one part of the dbgrid to a higher or lower position.
I was starting to use the drag and drop in manual and having to resort the affected records by changing all the affected records between the drag and drop points.

Or shoudl I be creating a sort order field and changing the
umbers in all those fields between the drag and drop points,
then refreshing the data cntrl??

Or is there something even better that I could do???
