Finally, the powers that be are recognizing the need for standards, procedures to control and implement standards, documentation, etc., etc. I am a happy camper!

My question: Does anyone have some standards and control procedures they might be willing to share? Possibly control and documentation forms? Maybe good examples of documentation? Barring those, can anyone point me to a web link that might contain some of these items?

I know it's a lot to ask, but I sure wuld appreciate anyone's help, guidance, etc. because I definitely don't want to start off on the wrong foot.

Thank you so much, in advance!

Can't believe I typed in "wuld" instead of "would" !!

Anybody???? I'm eager to get going, but would really appreciate assistance.

Please?

What type of documentation forms are you looking for?

Spec sheets?
Requirements docs?

???

Actually, I'm looking for both..... where I work, we don't have any type of documentation or spec sheets or even procedures, and I am very interested in starting out on a strong, positive approach. So...... anything you might be willing to share, or if you can point me in a good direction...... is definitely appreciated.

Thanks for replying! Looking forward to hearing back from you

Attached is a zip file with three documents that we use heavily.

I had to edit templates to remove our standard Header and Footers.

They are all Word documents.

Modify to suit your needs.

We have a few others, but those are the main ones.

Thank you, Hack!

I haven't had a free minute today to look at what you so generously provided, but will most likely in the morning. Whether I can use them or not, I still appreciate your offer.

:D

:DI'm sure you can, but probably not as they are. These forms are tailored to fit the specific needs of my company. In order for you to use them, you would need to tailor them in a similiar fashion.

They will however (or, at least they should) give you a starting point for developing something your company can use. These forms did not happen overnight and you should not expect finished products of these to happen quickly in your shop either.

As you use these for each project, you will discover something here or something there that you will want to add or remove.

Eventually, however, you should arrive at something solid and stable.

How true... I didn't expect to be able to use them "right out f the can," but have been searching for those proverbial starting points. I still haven't had a chance to look at them, darn it! I hate it when normal work interferes!

Thanks again for your replies and for your offers.

Thanks again for your replies and for your offers. The test cases document is pretty straightforward, but you might have "what the heck does this mean" type questions on the other two.

If you do, just post them and I'll try to explain the thought process behind whatever it is that has you scratching your head. :D

Hack,

Thanks so very much for your offers and willingness to share your documents. We are going to proceed with our own policies and documents, and when they are in a somewhat "recognizable" state, I'll be happy to share them with you, if you'd like.

Once again, thanks so much!

I'll definitely share them. I searched high and low on the web for information and hints, to no avail, plus I searched several forums, and you were the only person who responded. I did get a couple of replies in other forums, to the tune of, "Exactly what do you mean? What is it you're trying to accomplish?"

I found it a bit dismaying that there just did not appear to be that much out there related to policies / procedures / mechanisms for controlled development and issue resolution. Actually, I found it a bit scary!

Have a great weekend!

Hack,

I created a bunch of procedure forms (for lack of a better description) and put them into the attached zip file. If you would, please have a look at them and also, please place the zip file into the appropriate forum folder.

Let me know what you think..... I appreciate feedback and opinions!

Thanks!

I scanned through a few of them. We don't have a Reports Definition, so I think that will come in handy as will a few of the others.

You certainly have been busy. I wasn't expecting as many as you got created. Nice job. :thumb:

Have all of these been accepted by your management?

You're welcome! Nah, not that busy (HAH!) It seems like when you generate a few, others just start coming to mind.

They are in the process of being reviewed by management as we speak, and I feel the majority will be used in our very next project, whatever that might be.

Glad you liked them..... hope they help!

Hello again, Hack.....

Hey, I was looking at www.planetsourcecode.com and found a couple of items related to standards. Thought you might be interested, so attached them to this reply.

Let me know what you think and in the meanwhile, have a great day.
