After all this time most of people are still confused as to how to do this... So, wouldn't it be better to finally have a button somewhere next to "Reply" or "New Thread" ? I know it's hack but it does look like it's a necessity.

(Thread split from a thread in Classic VB)
I don't agree. It's generally only the new people who have a problem because it is, admittedly, not obvious, but once they are told how to do it they usually follow through.

Re: Shouldn't There Be A "Thread Resolved" Button?
Plus, its been discussed before and it was found that creating the hack was not something that was not easily done. I did create a "Resolved" button at that time just in case.
So if vB ever adds this functionality it would be much better.

Re: Shouldn't There Be A "Thread Resolved" Button?
The original hack that me and VIsual made used a button next to the new post, and new thread button. It was Brads decission to use the thread tools in stead. In some way it suits better there, but it is not so obvious. But since adding hacks to live pages, it is not something that will be done. We should just be glad we have it at all. It took a lot of persuading to get it done in the first place.

You may disagree but the fact remains: majority don't even know that link exist. You may argue about how easy is to pull down some menu but it's a very inonvenient way and also cumbersome if you ask me.
If it was obvious where to find then you wouldn't have to remind them (this often) what to do.

Re: Shouldn't There Be A "Thread Resolved" Button?
As we speak, there are 10 resolved threads on page 1 of Classic VB. That may be coincidental but it's a pretty high percent considering that I'm sure there are at least a half dozen that haven't been resolved. In any case I only point out the pull-down method to people with maybe 30 or less posts.

Since "NOT ... NOT" = "YES" - it sounds like it must be easy ...

That number sounds pretty low Martin by it's not the point - I'm not sure what you're trying to say: if you don't want this option then simply say it and let's forget about. But as everybody else on this board I think that having a button in some very obvious place would only help. People don't have any problems replying or creating new threads... They may accidentally hit the "New Thread" instead of "Reply" but that is because buttons are to close and I pointed that out more than a year ago ... but I guess we can leave with this.
But "Resolved..." should a button and after all it's not really that difficult to do.

Re: Shouldn't There Be A "Thread Resolved" Button?
OK, last comments from me.
- Yes it would be better.
- Yes I would like and welcome it.
- How difficult it would be I don't know but that is besides the point since with dozens of forums to support the tech staff does not like to implement hacks that have to be maintained from upgrade to upgrade.
- Is it a problem because we don't have it - I don't think so.
