Arrow ADO.Net sub-section in .Net section

There maybe times when members wants to ask specifically about ADO.Net without regards if it's VB.Net or C#, how about a sub-section where he/she can place such queries?

I have thought about that but it seems a few .Net specialists visits the Database section thereby leaving most of .Net related database questions unanswered/unresolved...

ADO.NET is a little ambivalent when it comes to the forum it 'belongs' to. I think that all of them - the Database development and VB.NET (yes, and C#) forums are suitable for ADO.NET questions. To create a separate ADO.NET forum wouldn't help, rather it'd create one more place where ADO.NET questions might go unanswered.

I would agree with mendhak and RhinoBull.

Standard ADO is very much in use with VB6, yet we have no specific section for ADO, so I really don't see the need for a specific section for ADO.NET

Give me a few more weeks and I'll be .Net specialist enough to help in the DB forum

But seriously, we really need to keep DB questions in that forum - the ones that pop up in all the other forums sometimes do not get enough "air-time" to garner a proper response...

Re: ADO.Net sub-section in .Net section

I would have to agree with all DB questions in the same forum - a large proportion of DB related questions can be answered by most of the regulars in the DB forum, no matter which language they use.

I know that there are major differences in the way that you connect to databases (and show data) in .Net than in Classic VB, but SQL/design/management/etc questions can be answered by all the regulars.

We do have a few regular DB Forum members who are learning .Net, so hopefully we will soon be getting DB FAQ submissions from them

Re: ADO.Net sub-section in .Net section

This is my case in point, I wanted it to have maximum exposure to the .Net experts so I posted it in VB.Net section, when actually the idea I am trying to gather is to be used in C# (don't know if that's a good decision or not ), if I have posted it in Database section I have high doubts that there will be respondents...

Huh! I hope you understood me. In any case, I hope some .Net experts would also frequent the Database section.

Re: ADO.Net sub-section in .Net section

I can certainly understand that, in this case I would have still said the DB section was more appropriate - but as the .Net expertise in the DB forum yet isn't up to scratch, either would have been ok.

The double-posting is not ideal, but ok as you have linked to the other thread. If you had linked it the opposite way, it may have persuaded some of the .Net experts to look in the DB section

A lot of it has to do with how people go spellunking through the forums... I typicaly use the "New Posts" searching, so I get all new posts in all forum sections. So from my view, it doesn't matter where it goes. I know different people stroll through here diffferently.

    Just my two cents.
