Due to lack of any decent projects to do I've dediced to pull out something I had lying on a dusty shelf.

Milestone - A version and project management tool.

Core functionality is that you are able to share project code/files with your team with security, encryption and compression, the version management would allow versions, branching and daily builds. etc. More below in detail.

Basically Milestone in it's complete form would exist of the following:

A client with most of the functionality built-in including:
- DB Connectivity (ODBC ADO based?)
- Project management with all the tools available (ghantt charts, project calender, tasks, activities, subtasking, information)
- A built-in messenger with DB saving feature to save those interesting convo's to the DB for future reference.
- Version management (File check in, check out, gets, DIB gets, branching)
- Internal mailing feature to inform project members of changes
- A set of PHP files that can also show most of the information for use on a webserver. (File get, Project lookups, etc)

The whole of the project would be user-friendly and semi self-explanatory. In other words; Office XP looks and friendliness but still useful for even businesses.

The project will be open-source and focussed for small independant developer teams (mod and total conversion teams, vbForums people etc). Milestone is basically CVS or Subversion with a more friendly touch.

If you are interested in helping out with this fairly large project you can send me a private message on the board (or mail me) but do read the following requirements:

- You should be atleast 19 years of age (To ensure maturity and responsability)
- You can spend atleast a few hours a week on the project to build modules
- In-depth knowledge of any of the following things is preferred. [ADO(.net) / PHP / MySQL / VB6 or VB.NET* / Technicial documenter)
- Fluent written english or atleast close. In other words; If you write code and comment it we don't have to decypher what is says.

* The project's development language is still being chosen.. but it's either going to be VB6 or VB.NET due to RAD style development (and for the very simple reason my C# sucks)

Thanks in advance.

Hello,
I am learning visual basic. I know some ADO as well. If you wouldn't mind trying me out, then I am willing to spend some hours in a week (as you said).
Thank you.
