Linux which grafix card

I have a second hdd for Linux but my main os is WinXP. I need a good grafhix card that can run high level graphics on windows and one thats compatible with Linux.

there are universal drivers on linux too... have you tried the startx command to get to xWindow? or did you even install any graphical interface? (KDE, Gnome, etc)

I instaled KDE and Gnome but when i try startx i just get a black screen, its the same on all. I went to the graphics card and the OS's websites but none of them had drivers for my card. I could try gettin one of my old graphics cards and puttin that on too but then i'd have to keep swaping when i go on a different OS

well, something similar happened to me once, I got a weird view on the OS, and I just reinstalled and everything worked fine... maybe you should try the same...

If you want high end and Linux compatible, then a nVidia GeForce card will probably be your best bet. The Linux drivers are less troublesome for nVidia. I hear ATIs can be a pain in the butt, although nVidias isn't exactly a walk in the park to install.

I've instaled each at least three times an gone through a couple of keyboards out of frustration. Maby i'll just get the latest version i can find an see if that works, its not asif Linux costs much(if anythin)
