My pc is freezing when I reboot. (at the point where blue startup bar fills).
I am running win 2000 OS.
I can run in safe mode only. I've run a virus scan in safe mode and no virus detected.
I need my PC! Is there an alternate way to reboot, or options while in safe mode to reboot normally?
(please use laymans terms... thanks)

Welcome to the forums!
What have you done recently to your PC? That is the most likely cause.
In safe mode, you can run MSCONFIG and set it to boot with a SELECTIVE STARTUP. Click on SERVICES, and then check the button that says HIDE ALL MICROSOFT SERVICES. Then, uncheck whatever is left.
Your computer should boot, but you'd have to play out the various things, and use a process of elimination about what the problem is.
Start with what you did to your system last. Try removing the app, if you just installed something.

Thanks for the speedy response.
I'll try that and see if it works.
My son was chatting with friends on Yahoo and MySpace at the time, when IE froze (yet yahoo was ok and responding). IE wouldn't start up after that, so he decided to reboot, which brings me to this point.

Possible that he got a virus or something malicious via IM.
