    Question

I am trying to use the VB package wizard to create an installation for a program that contains ado controls.

The first install created, included an executable called mdac_typ20.exe. When I used this installation, their was a provider error 3706?.

I downloaded mdac_type2.5.exe and installed it onto my test machine. This fixed the problem.

I put this executable in the setup, but it does not run during the installation like the previous mdac_typ did. It just loads it into the app.path directory. I have to run this after the installation is complete.

How can I get this executable to run like the previous version?????
I think, therefore... my head hurts.

Try to rename your mdac_type2.5.exe with mdac_typ20.exe, cuz maybe it try to open the mdac_typ20.exe.
And MAKE SURE that your setup name's not 'setup',cuz after mdac_typ extract itself, it try to start the setup that he just exctracted.

    Thumbs down

I tried changing the name of the executable, but this didn't work.

I think that the first mdac_typ was self-extracting, and the 2.5 version is not.

Is there a self-extracting version newer than 2.0?
