It reminds me of the old PARADOX program. They used the same greenish colors. Make your splash screen colorful, with bright colors that are easy to see.

In this splash screen I used &H00987758&, try experimenting with color combinations, I just felt that the color you selected were dull...

No, but contrasting colors are imperatve, I think. Use High-Color's. The letters shouldn't be shaded, I think, unless the shades are solid black on a light background.

i was always told to be uniform throughout a program, especially when it comes to colors. changing those colors wouldnt be difficult at all. will have to come up with something.

I can't even find a screenshot of their splash screen, but I think the colors were used as dos didn't support highcolors on most monitors.

the main program itself is using the "60s hippy attire" because its soft on the eyes, you dont need something bright when someone is working inside an app. thats why the splash was using those colors, to make it uniform throughout. but do you think its fine to have the splash use "bright colors" and the main app using "soft colors"?

As a matter of personal perference (and standards at my company), bright colors are always avoided.

As far as the rest of your app goes, if it is working for you then stay with it.

I'm certain you have a target market for this application. You might want to see if you could get a user group together and run it by them. The people that you really need opinions on are the ones that are going to be using your application.

i dont have a set target yet but will be within the business community. maybe consulting because itll have inventory, receipts, invoicing, client information, supplier information, authorized user management, etc.

2) Use the system colors if at all possible. You never know when a color-blind person is going to use your app. Odds are they'll have a color scheme setup that they can use easily. By supplying youir own colors, it makes it tough for them to operate the app.
3) Take your first scrn shot there, shrink it.... then put it on a form (background white) as a logo, then text around it.

exactly my point. you can never please everyone. lol.

i know that the internal and external form designs are going to be the major part of the app. getting rid of all the caption bars on the top of the forms and making my own to go with the page color schemes. just like someone did recently (he also showed what he had done on vbf.) I plan to do something similar. all commercial apps have some kind of great color schemes that are easy on the eye. presentation is everything. people usually dont care whats "under the hood." all they care about is what the app looks like and what it can do. coding is only 15% of the production in my opinion, but of course, everyone has their own ideas. im sure that when the app is complete, ill post screen shots for feedback (good and bad).

being visually challenged myself, i have an idea of what someone in my situation needs in an app. i am also thinking of allowing the user to select a "skin" depending on their needs. of course, this is way down the road yet but its in my todo list.

I like it, and I would say give it shot for your forms as well.

It would lend a nice consistensy to the entire application.

thats what i was looking to do. uniform throughout. what do you think of this one? its the same as the other but with a slight raise

It's better now, though the wordings on the lower part are not readable to me...

I concur. The copyright info is hard to read. Maybe a different color altogether if it's going to be that small. If it's full-screen, that may be different, but if it's the size of the picture, it's hard to read.

Agree with dee-u and David, the lower text is very difficult to read. Suggest removing the shadow - see how that looks.

Other than that, the new scheme is wonderful, eye catching and pleasing too - great job.

Nah, that might even be worse. How about if the letters in it were white? Or another color? The black shading really messes things up. Maybe even a bigger font for the last line?
