Well, the week's diving is over, and we're all getting utterly smashed at the Camel Bar in Sharm El Sheikh (I'm on their internet cafe PC now, having tweaked my way past their protection!)
As far as violence goes, we haven't seen any so far, and all the people are really friendly. Obviously Bill Clinton kept them calm :).
So - what's been happening?

if its an internet cafe, its probably 56k unless it looks like a pretty good business, then it might be cable.

egypt?
hmm i will be there in 2 years
got to make gf happy and take her to see her extended family
hehe
o well
here is a joke for you parksie
make sure you dont fall for this one
a tourist went to egypt
and he didn't have a watch
so he he saw this guy sitting by his camel
and the tourist is like "do you know what time it is?"
the camel guy grabbed the camels balls, wiggled them around
and told the tourist the time
tourist being shocked at the response, and wanted to find out if he was correct
so he found someone with a watch and asked him too
the camel guy was right on the money
tourist beign suprised
told his friend "there is this guy that can tell time accurately by wiggling his camel balls"
so next day tourist and his friend went to the same place and saw the camel guy sitting there again
and the tourists this time had taken a watch with them to make sure this guy is right
so they asked him for the time again
camel guy did some more wiggling
and told them the time correctly..
tourist suprised at this and coudn't resist to ask "how can you tell the time by rubbing a camels balls"
the camel guy goes "o boy.. if you want to know,, come here..
so the tourist sit down with him, and he grabbs the camel balls again and moves them to the side
and he goes "do you see that BIG clock over there? i just move them to see the damn clock on that wall over there"
I've heard one like that before,
but it involved a farmer, and his donkey, :D

*yawns*
Just got back :). Although the weather at Gatwick was appalling so we diverted to Stanstead. Unfortunately, so did 11 other flights.
Result: One overloaded airport. This meant that we had to sit in the plane, on the ground, for FOUR F*****G HOURS!!!. In total, I'd not moved from the same seat for 10 hours solid :(:(:(.
Oh - I definitely have a watch.
Fancy having to go all the way to Egypt to find some one you can out drink....and then it's a 12 year old muslim girl.
parksie
Oct 31st, 2000, 12:23 PM
Actually, it was John...No, seriously. There's a guy who went with us called John and he was the king of drinking :D.
The 12-year-old girls were all trying to sell necklaces/bracelets/whatever.
PS: the Camel Bar was shown on "Holiday" on sunday (britain only!)

Jethro
i dont know what you really meant by that
but if you wanted to start another thread on religious war
you just got it :) (note: joke)
however here is a tip for you thou
we muslims take a LOT of pride in our women
so i hope you dont stay that infront of a muslim cus mostlikely you will get hit (thats a CULTURE thing)
note: i am not starting a fight, just giving you a tip if you ever are about to say something like that infront of a muslim
*writes his name down in the black book*
note: all the crap with "note:"
is for barrk :)

Cut me some slack, Kovan. As your elder and a woman I deserve to be treated with a little bit of respect!(note:joke)

hehehe you beat me at my own game :)
oh and about that you being older and woman..
sorry but my religion teaches me to treat everyone EQUALLY(note: not joking)
:)
o wait, it says equally but differently based on gender, age
ok you beat me
thats what the women want to hear
that they are right :)
so your right
parksie
Nov 1st, 2000, 12:48 PM
I don't want to start a fight here, but if you people take so much pride in your women, how come for ages they couldn't go out with their faces uncovered and all that?
note: if you want to hit me that's okay because it's happening a lot at the moment :(
kovan
Nov 1st, 2000, 01:06 PM
maybe you were miss informed
we do NOT, i repeat, do NOT force our women to cover their face
(some do force them, which is PURE culture)
Quran says they are suppose to cover their HAIR
if they cover it good
if they dont then they are not doing what their belief teaches..
now if one doesnt cover her hair, NO ONE IS ALLOWED to force her according to religion..
but i undrestand what your saying
those so called muslim countries force people to do this to do that..
which is not right
everyone has a CHOICE
and religion teaches one to do something, if they do it they are following, if they dont, then they ar nto following
by the way
covering face is NOT mentioned in the Qur'an
but some do it for their protection
like i have 2 sisters, we live in canada
they both cover their hair
and no one in my family forces them to
because they could do what ever the hell they want here since we are in canada, and not a thing my dad or dad could say
but its a choice
so to sum this up
we dont force our women to do anything againts thier WILL
those that do are disobeying their belief
and no fighting is started
i just think you were miss informed
and i wont hit you
unless you like it :)
just something else
when islam came, it was the first time in history that women actually had a lot of rights
such as inherit land, be treated like a human other than a WOMEN. and many other rights, if you want i can go on..
[Edited by kovan on 11-01-2000 at 02:16 PM]
I don't know about ALL of History, Kovan, but you're
certainly right about the religious laws of Islam being a
very good thing for women in the Arabian Peninsula and the
Middle East at the time of founding (640AD? 650AD?).
I didn't realize that the chadur was cultural and not
religious law (I assume chadur means the covering of the
entire body as opposed to just the hair).

Yikes...I think I was misinformed. As long as noone's forcing people to do anything, then I'm happy :).
Being hit? That depends ;)
And no more comments about my drinking ability - I don't think you lot come anywhere near...
I can out-drink you parksie,
I have been drinking hard liqour since I was 18...

18 months? Impressive. Unfortunately, I've been at it since birth. Breast feeding? Nah. Just plonk (heh) me under an optic and I'm fine :)
18 months?
what the hell, I started at 18 seconds...........
first I stuck my fist in my mouth, and in the process of removing it, the doctor dropped his JD, then he dropped me, and I started drinking the un-broken bottle....
sheeeeesh, 18 months.... thats too late.....
Must be the laid back life sytle up in Canada. Oh well....

DeFarm
in arabic its called Nikab (covering of the whole body, including the face, refers to the covering of the face more..)
i believe islamic scholars recommend that a women wears it but certainly is not anywhere (from all the search i did) couldn't find it anywhere in The Qur'an..
but the cover of the face is a requirement.. weather they do it or not..
you know.. sometimes i THINK that women have more rights in islam then men (maybe how their rights are different makes them loo like women have more rights..)
but my belief teaches
everyone has EQUAL but different rights(since men and women are DIFFERENT in many aspects....
(note: this is just information, not a fight or harsh words at all)
to THIS day a lot of people oppress their women..
like i will attack the biggest SO called islamic country
Saudi Arabia
their women are not allowed to drive..
WHY?
what does that got to do with religion?
so a lot of people use culture to get away with things and blame the religion.. thats the sad part
n e ways
back to parksie
well i am not into that thing where you need a master and want spanked
but i am sure jethro is into that stuff :)
jethro..
its kinda hard to get me into a fight
things that i get fired up on are if someone directly attacks my religion and they know the truth about it and just want to give it a bad name cus they dont like it
i didn't fire at parksie cus from the undrestanding.. he was mis informed
and if you attack the women related to me :)
so watch it :)
Canada is great..
i do what i want, how i want, where i want, when i want :)
things that i didn't have at one point
so ya i am very laid back :)
Treatment of women
Jihad
Fanatics
Now l am pretty sure, like most religons, there are extremists and moderates....Billy Graham ain't a good advertisement for christianity....but it would seem that for extremism Islam takes the cake...
Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, etc etc....not a good selling point.
And by the way...l bet Moslems punch like girls.....
Waiting your response....and yes l am bored...friggin POS Dockets, Statements, and Invoice documents to code...may be l should have just become an accountant:(

if your trying to piss me off, it aint working :)
but if you were serious about the treatment of women..
read the above
In Islam Everyone has EQUAL rights
some dont follow this and its a big downfall for islam
remember one thing
"Never Judge A Religion By Its People, Judge It By Its Scripture"
but if your interested in how they are equal, what islam says about women ect.. let me know
by the way, Iraq, Pakistan, Iran only read half of the sentence..
and they are NOT following what islam teaches..
neverless :)
And by the way...l bet Moslems punch like girls.....
hahahahahahah
very funny dude
if you really want to kno whow they punch....
try to offends ones mom in REAL life..
Warning:Kovanica Enterprizes take no responsibility for advice/suggestion given on there, if you do use whole or part of the advice you are FULLY responsible for the conscicounces..
So even though the majority of moslem countries, (Malaysia and Indonesia included) have a misogynist outlook we should not apply that to all of Islam. So which countries are showing this enlightened treatment of Women????
Take your point on the mother in law thing. I still get nightmares of nuns armed with metal rulers, and have actually gone overseas rather than face one of my mother in laws visits.
Quick joke for you.
What's the difference between a Terrorist and a Jewish mother in law?
You can reason with a terrorist! <- from personal expiernance l can concur with this.
kovan
Nov 6th, 2000, 08:02 AM
like said dude :)
people use culture..
indonesia, saudi arabia, pakistan.. ect use culture to opress their women and people blame it on islam
again yes judge it by what the scripture says not what people do..
like if i go on a mass kill (be sure that dennis will be included)
just because i am muslim does that mean all muslims are murderers?
now if you look at it that way, i am not even gonna try to explain it to you cus that itself tells me a lot about you :)
and about that joke..
i had one similiar to it.. posted on here a while ago
this one was between terrorist and a women on pms.. ":)
............frightening comes to mind
....lol....on the Dennis comment. I hope they don't have towers where that guy lives. All those guns, a weight problem, could get frightening.:)
