Just got a virus from stupid !#%^& IE, it has kernal64.exe that it runs on startup..delete that if you got it guys (system32/kernal64.exe)

I keep on telling people IE gives you viruses...IE is not secure. They don't listen until its to late....

Anything but IE would work. But firefox is the best because it makes this huge box come up that you can't click ok for 5 seconds if the website is trying to install any program onto your computer. Maybe they should make that box cover the whole screen with bigger warning messages .

Firefox is in all ways superior. I don't even need to tell you the reasons why its better just because it is. So just go download it already.

Well, if you have a Yahoo! or an AIM account, I think you could still get it with Trillian. I haven't gotten anything, and I have an AIM account, but I only talk to 2 people over AIM.

Yeah, you clicked on a "hey check this out link" without looking at the link location first. Silly boy . I've must've been sent with like 100 of those links, but I hover over the location, if it ends in a .exe, its a no no and I kick the person offline. If it's any of the other exts, I consider it. But 9/10 times I don't click on it. If you forget to hover over it, right click it copy url to clipboard then paste it into your browser. If it ends in .exe, then yeah use that block button that god gave us .

I.E. is a security hole riddin piece of crap.
So many bugs that can download and launch application without user knowledge.
But going to other browsers doesnt mean your completly safe either.
Need to have some software to warn you of any new exe starting on your computer. That would be the only safe way using browsers.

At the company at which I'm employeed as well as the company I'm doing onsite work for, IE is the default, and the company computers at both are set up as such so that no other browser can be used.

ahihi for me i love IE.. if i got a freakin virus, i challenge myself to remove it, but then again if you don't have time troubleshooting or removing viruses, i suggest you use other web browser.

IE executes slow, when compared to FX and Opera. Plus it's makes you more vunerable to multiple Search bars (normally installed sometimes without warning by some other software, such as KaZaa, Grokster, etc.), spyware, adware, annoying pop-ups, and viruses.

On a side note, I think it was mendhak about a year ago, who had an image of like over 100 search bars and buttons in an IE window. I wouldn't mind seeing that again. Plus it's a good reminder to stay away from IE.

You'd just get it again if you did. Would it be worth it? My provider detected the sober32 virus in an email and deleted it for me yesterday. No idea who sent it, as I deleted the uneffected message.

Maybe your Security Settings are not high enough.

Because its the default, most administrators arn't going to goto every computer in their building and make Firefox as the default browser (in some companys the sheer number of computers is just to many, unless you have your network setup correctly where if there is a change the computer will auto download the update). I don't think its so much they don't want to, its just that, that people are more familiar with IE than ff because thats what they are teaching in computers 101. And if they did change then they would have to hold a meeting on how to use ff, which then they would lose money because all the employees that have to use the computer would be away.
(A good company wouldn't lose money, but thats just their excuse...)

You don't need a meeting, if you're even remotely proficient with computers then you will pick it up in seconds. My mother uses it for heavens sake!
