it means that the person who awarded you some rep. doesn't have the necessary number of posts for his/her reps to actually count against your rep count.

Harsh is correct. You must have at least 20 posts for the rep to count.

So, if someone gives you a zero value rep and they have less than 20 posts, does that rep change when they hit 20 posts?

    Re: Question about reputations?

Unless you get nixed. Then you could have a green gem for 1-4 reps, and a red gem for < 1.

    Another question...

A user ,i think with less then 20 total posts, gave me 'approved' and it was grayed.
Few days later it changed to green why? how?
Does it change if the u get over 20 posts?

    Re: Question about reputations?

Not unless they recently changed things. There was a discussion about that a few months ago, and I was told that it wouldn't be changed. I have collected a LOT of grey reps in the past, and I'm sure that a lot of the newbies now have 20 posts.

    Re: Question about reputations?

I don't think that's possible as I doubt very much that vBulletin has that feature builtin.

Besides, I have probably a hundred or more grey reps and none of them have "upgraded", even the recent ones, so I think you may be mistaken. Perhaps you got a positive rep after your grey one and the grey one was deleted for some reason.

BTW, reps stay even if the post they are given to is deleted. You simply can no longer view your rating + comments on that single post (obviously).

    Re: Question about reputations?

I just tested to see if the graphic blocks would change from black to green when a person goes over the threshhold of being able to give points. In my test, the block of a past rep stayed black even after the rater was upgraded to a power.
