Ok, I got this probebly 2 years old computer (so not that old at all). and once i have the computer runing for more then 2 houres (more like 3) and i go to the Task Manager. at the buttom i see that the computer is using 560M out of the total 637M (560,132K/637,944K). When i switch to the proesses tab and i sort them from most to least memory. I see that the most memory used is only 15M (15,120K) by EXPLORER.EXE (windows). where does all that memory go to???? my computer can't even move!!!!!
I GOT 5 OTHER COMPUTER NO ONE OF THEM HAD EVER WANT OVER 300M
MOST COMPUTER STAY IN THE 130 - 240M RANGE
KEEP IN MIND:
1) THAT WHILE DOING IT I MADE SHURE THAT NO OTHER APP IS RUNING OR MINIMIEZED OR IN BACKGROUND EXCEPT TO EXPLORER.EXE AND SYSTEM OPERARTION FILES
2) I AM THE ONLY ONE WHO USES THIS COMPUTER (I AM THE ADMIN)
3) THE COMPUTER WAS ONLY TURNED ON 2:10 HOURES BEFOR I DID IT.
WHERE DOES ALL THE MEMORY GO TO?????

Sound's like one of your apps has a memory leak. Did you try ending some of the prosesses?

Yes I did, but you said you didn't have any apps running, that doesn't mean their processes weren't...

Odd! I think he would notice random processes running.
Wanna post a screenshot of all your processes wiz126? Perhaps theres a Windows process thats doing it.. otherwise the only suggestion I could give is a complete reinstall, as perhaps something has been stuffed up along the way. :\
I know a while back I spent alot of time watching MSN Messenger and its memory usage... I found that it uses alot more memory than it claims to.. for example a dynamic display picture doesn't get added to MSN Messenger, but it does take up memory, and releases it (eventually.) after you close MSN.

Sounds like a worm/virus or something....
You should probably run a scan with updated definition files withyour virus scanner.......hmmm if you have enough time before it locks up.

Well usually viruses are designed to be as unobvious as possible, and often use the same name as windows processes. Wiz also said he closed processes, so he may have closed the virus and it just restarted itself. I also know he visited a site with a trojan on it that was posted in chitchat. And lets face it what harm is running a scan going to do....

You might want to run a virus scan on that drive just in case. If you don't have any virus scan software I believe trendmicro has a free web scan on their site.
