Hm why not just play Masters of Orion II? Do you have a little more concept to show? I think It would help you.
I'm not interested anyways, because I don't have enough time.

Heh,
Masters of Orion 2 was a let down after Masters of Orion. Firstly, the game is sooo slow because it loads of CD all the time - for every screen, even if you've just been on that screen.
Secondly, they didn't really add a great deal to the game at all.
Now Pax Imperia is cool. And so is Ascendency.
But both of these fail in the area of multi-player playability. If you are creating a game, take note of the fact that it seems that most of the popular multiplayer games involve walking or running around on Land.
Whether it's an RTS like Warcraft/Starcraft or a game like Diablo/Darkstone or a shooter like Quake3/Unreal, the common factor is that they involve something all players can "relate" to easily.
Some multiplayer flyer games are popular too, but you don't see them played a great deal on the major networks.
In yourgame Niko, if you are have a reasonable (i.e. playable) 2-D combat for the planet takeover and/or space combat, then you should be able to make a popular game.
If you don't have something that people can relate to easily, then it will never be played a great deal on the LAN or internet :)
I for one would like to play a game like Settlers (not the computer game - The German board game called Settlers of Catan). It could easily be adapted to a space setting and because it involves real-time trading of resources etc, it engages the player in something he can easily relate to.

Hey Paul. Did you actually know that there are allready two PC games of this German boardgame, but they totally suck! They adopted just the game and put it into 3D graphics.
And do you know, that there is already the "die raumfahrer von catan" (like the spacetravelors of catan)??? I don't have it, and I don't think I'll get it. Since it seems to me like the board is fixed now!!!
I really loved Masters of Orion II. On my PII 266 system I had no waiting at all. And with the 300MB installation, I also didn't have to wait at all on my P75!!!!!!!!!!
But you are right, the Combat just sucked! BUT IT STILL IS A GREAT GAME!!!

Hey, If you really think it is better than MOO2 than speed up finishing it and sell it! there is a whole lot of guys like me searching for a good game in this direction, that doesn't involve too much spacefighting action! It would be real cool if you coul switch it on and off!

You can switch off the fighting in MOO2. In fact I think the default is Off.
There's a small chance that my memory is mixing up games here but if the screen I am thinking of is in MOO2 then the option is called something like "Tactical Combat". Set it off and the computer does the battle for you in seconds without any graphics.
I like MOO2 but it was a disappointment (to spend the $$ on it only to find it wasn't all that different from MOO).

Yes you can switch it on and off. But I still didn't like the combat, so if there is a cool combat, I'd take it!!
Yes it was Tactical Combat!
I never had MOO 1 so MOO2 was worth every cent. (even though we don't have cents in Germany)
Have you heard about the space travalers of catan?

Nope. Except in your other post. Is it by the same game creator? OR is it a port to computer or something?

It's by the same creator.
So You also haven't heard of the historic scenes? I don't really know aobut them, but I think the use old system, and only have a few new possibilities. I wont waste my mony on them before I got all 6player addons!
Do you have ICQ by now?
PaulLewis
Oct 24th, 2000, 08:25 PM
Sadly I have not had time to do all of that ICQ stuff at home.
I find the pace of ICQ or other real-time chat mechanisms to frenetic for my liking.
Plus I can't use it from work so it would be a hassle waiting till I got home for messages.
But to keep international relations with Germany on a good basis, I will look at getting it at home in the next week :) hehe
Regards
Paul

Yes that would be real cool, cause I think the German-New Sealand Relations are the most important ones and will play a big role in the future of mankind....
or at least we wont mess up other peoples thread to talk about board games!
