Achieving 1600x1200 resolution
Hello,
This is a real dumb question and is certainly not one of my expertise, but how can I achieve 1600x1200 resolution? You obviously need the graphics card to do it, and the monitor, right? I have an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro (All In Wonder) and I know it goes up to 1600x1200. I'm not too sure about my monitor. But, here's what happens when I set my resolution at 1600x1200. Basically it stays at 1024x768, but I can like scroll around and it'll pan around the screen. For example, if I am near the taskbar, I can pan up to the title bar of a program. But when I'm at the title bar of a program, I can't see the taskbar. Is this a given clue that my monitor doesn't support 1600x1200? If so, if I want to buy a monitor, what would I look for? I'm not saying I'm looking to buy one, but I havn't really seen a monitor that advertises "Max Resolution: 1600x1200" but that's probably just my dumbness.
When I'm at 1600x1200 and do a screenshot (the full screen) it does the whole screen (1600x1200), but like I said, when I navigate it's like it's doing 1024x768.
Here is a better description of what happens when I use 1600x1200, but when something is wrong and it doesn't work properly.
In the first one, you see Firefox with the title bar. No taskbar or anything, you have to scroll down to see that.

Here, you see the taskbar, but no title bar of Firefox or system tray. You have to scroll to the right to see the system tray.

And here is the system tray, with the Start menu and Firefox's titlebar not showing.
