Before I begin I'd like to say that I'm not sure if this belongs here or not, but it seems to fit in here better than anywhere else...

OK, now for the question:

Does anybody know any good reliable free web hosting services?
I'm just an amateur programmer, but I do have some programs I would like to put... out there for people to download. Anybody know anything good for such a purpose?

I guess some criteria for something that is "good" would be:
- allowing .exe files (for obvious reasons)
- preferably no max file size, or at least something not too small; the biggest of my applications I plan to upload is about 120kb but I know it will get bigger soon and fast
- reasonable bandwidth
- reasonable space

I did a Google search and several things came up, but many sound too good to be true. So basically I want to know if there are any specific FREE hosting services you would recommend.

Thanks in advance.

I have never used a "Free" host except for one that I use only for testing asp apps, but I have heard good things about Doteasy (http://www.doteasy.com/) and supposedly they are banner free. A couple problems you will often find with free hosts are the lack of bandwidth if your site begins to get some visitors and the lack of control. Often times the free hosts don't provide you with alot of access to change things like your php.ini file and what not. Often it is worth the cost of a paid host. I have very reliable hosting that includes 5GB of storage and 300GB of bandwidth per month for less than $8.00 a month.

On a side note, you should always put your exe files in a zip file. Most people do not want to download a exe directly, I won't.

Good luck
