Ruby never heard of it. Heard of Fortress though which is Sun's new language. As for the way you feel just take it as getting a push to learn another language. I primarily code in Java but learning C#.

Ask a recruitment agent about this. At the moment C# (then VB.NET) is the most popular language specific requirement from the job lists I've seen.

The sign of a good developer is not how many languages but being able to adapt to each project and if need be learn a new language to complete the job at hand. As your experience grows so does your language base but you can not jump from langauage to language because one is hotter then another. By the time you learn the hot one its no longer hot and then you need to switch again. Pick the language you want and learn it. Logic and debugging are skills that are transferrable from language to language. ;)
