Hi,
I formatted my system with WinXp, when creating partition, unfortunately a part with
with 431 MB left alone. Now i have 3 partition C, D & E, Now I need to merge this 431
with E Drive, I can see this 432 MB in the Computer Management Window -
Under DiskManagement, how to do this.
I am not able to find the IIS under Control Panel - Add or Remove Programs -
Add/Remove Windows Components.
i am able to see only the following
Accessories and Utilities {Checked}
Fax Services {Not Checked}
Indexing Service {Not Checked}
Internet Explorer {Checked}
Management and Monitoring Tools {Not Checked}
MSN Explorer {Checked}
Networking Services {Checked}
Other Network File and Print Services {Not Checked}
Outlook Express {Checked}
Update Root Certificates {Checked}
Widows Media Player {Checked}
Windows Messenger {Checked}
Thankyou,
Chock. :)

What does partitioning have to do with IIS?!!!!!
You need a third party program to merge partitions such as Partition Magic.

IIS is not installed on XP professional by default. If you recently re-formatted, then you will have to put IIS back on.

I figured that this was a two part question. ;) I figured that these two questions are totally irrelevant to each other.

Yes, they are unrelated but if he just reinstalled and is noticing that IIS is missing and is also asking about resizing partition sizes then that is two questions in a single post. :D

I think in Disk Management you can increase the size of a disk, only if it hasn't been formatted. I don't know if you can merge them, but I created a new drive letter with some space that I had on my C/D drive. I used 30 out of 60 gb, so I just clicked format for the G drive. Try out mmc, and Disk Management.

Disk Management should be able to do it.. (never been able to create a partition with that thing, dunno if its possible)
And I think, unless your a major geek, getting IIS to work on XP Home is not worth the trouble. Apache is better anyway. :p

You could possible only use DM if you have free space in each partition. If one partition is full or near, then you wont beable to resize it smaller. ;)

Hai,
SLH: I can't reach the link what u have given , because Access Denied message is coming in the browser.
Lunatic: Sorry i messed 2 question in the same post, even without numbers. Hope i have to try with the
Partition Magic to merge the 400 mb space which is unpartioned and left alone.
nKad: Actually i didn't install the Win XP Professional, its a home edition, i seen it after installing the OS as RobDog888 says.
dglienna: Actually i finished partioning, the 80 GB hard disk, in to C Drive(35 GB), D Drive(20 GB), E Drive(17 GB)
can't remember the exact partitioned size, because its the PC in my home, now i am posting this from my office.
in my first post i posted as below
Now I need to merge this 431
with E Drive, I can see this 432 MB in the Computer Management Window -
Under DiskManagement, how to do this.
but it has to be corrected, i cannot see the 432 MB in the Computer Management Window - Under DiskManagement.
How to find this and merge with any one of my drive. I first need to Format the upartitioned 431 MB and merge.
I tried the document from the ValueOfNothing site, which stated how to install IIS on Win XP home, Now i am able to see the IIS on the Add Windows Components, But the final step in the document is not succeeded. the final step is to puthe file name
aspregiis.exe - i in the command prompt which is located in the Windows system folder, the document says, it will show the Finish message box,
but i didn't see the message box. So its on the way and incompleted.
Kindly suggeest me to solve this.
thankyou,
Chock.

Command should look like this:
c:\Windows\Microsoft .Net\Framework \V1.1.xxxx\aspnet_regiis.exe -i
Where the "xxxx" is replaced with your actual version number. Then the cmd promt will say it is installing ....then will install and finish.
