New to using Winsock - Want to try make chat software.

Hello.
I'm fairly new to Winsock, and i'm trying to make some simple chat software...
What i want this software to be able to do is host a server on a computer, and be able to have multiple users connected and sending and receiving messages using the client software. Also, at some point i'd like to put in a Username/Password sort thing, which will save the passwords to a file (This wouldn't be hard to do though )

I've been looking on google for various Winsock tutorials, but can't find any that are simple enough for a beginner, but also good enough to ensure that i actually learn what is trying to be taught...

If anybody knows a good tutorial, with examples, etc. Then please could you tell me the link.
