[RESOLVED] Snapshot Programs
hi, i am setting up my server so that it takes pictures from the camera. is there any prorgams that can take pictures every second or half a second? is there any that can also record the video to a video file at the same time? a bit like the microsoft snapshot power toy but my camera does not want to work with it.
thanks

Re: Snapshot Programs
What type of camera is it? If it's a web cam or something similar, then it usually comes with software to do that type of stuff. If it's a digital picture camera, I don't think it's possible because all you do is access the flash card via the camera's card reader, you can't control them (Unless there's a newer model I've never seen)
I use Microsoft Visual Basic 2005. (Therefore, most code samples I provide will be based around the .NET Framework v2.0, unless otherwise specified)

It is a webcam and i think the microsoft program is made for digital cameras. It did but it takes quite a bit of ram.

Nah, the Microsoft one is for webcams, but I could never get it to work either. What is the make/model of your webcam, most of the bigger name brands include software that does all this for you, I know Creative does for a fact.

Re: Snapshot Programs
It came from Argos and cost £20 and was on Buy-One-Get-One-Free. I Don't know who actualy makes the camera. It has survailance software with it but it is one of those ones that dont work that fast.

Re: Snapshot Programs
Try looking it up on the internet. The manufacturer may have released a newer version.

Re: Snapshot Programs
I could make it a little more advanced because i was going to get a plain html page to display an image and refresh every five seconds but i could use windows media encoder and windows media server and stream it from the client so it is live. i can also set it up to save the encoded content to a file. I would have to encode it at a low bit rate because of the space on the harddrive but it should work quite good.

Re: Snapshot Programs
Yes, as long as you can get the Windows Media Services to detect it, it should work just fine.
