No Link to Database

We are using a visual basic application based on Oracle Data Base on windows 2000 server (HP Branded server ML 350 g4) when I try to logon to the visual basic application it says that "no link to data base". After repeatedly trying for 3 or 4 times it is getting connected. what is causing the problem and how to avoid it . please help me in that.

Off hand I'd check your connection string and/or your drivers, but you'd probably get a better & quicker answer in the database forum.

did you checked your connection string is valid. if not post your connection string so that anyone can help you out..
