Half of them are display fonts, and the rest are printer fonts.

A font must also be installed before it will show up in an enumeration. The Windows Shell does this for you when you drag and drop files into the fonts folder, however if they were copied via command line or otherwise programatically copied to that directory, chances are they aren't installed, just sitting in that directory.

All the fonts in my directory show up in the enumeration (charmap and so on).

There is a HIDE SIMILAR checkbox on the menu, which may be checked. It cut my 250 down to 150 when I checked it.

    hey dg....

the problem is that it is showing nearly 200 fonts in the fonts folder n that option is unchecked (as u said) but many of those printer fonts (of few i know r printer fonts) are not visible in applications like MS-Word. now wot's the cause??

I don't have as many in Word, either, but I'm not sure why.
