If its the Dietel and Dietel book you are talking about, I'd have to give that a "thumbs down" (there are some good things in it, but the overall presentation is confusing and bad coding style is rampant throughout). I used to teach part-time at CLC and we had to use this as our textbook and a lot of the students were frustrated with this book. If you are a novice, a book that I liked both when I was learning VB myself and as an instructor was the VB book by Diane Zak (published by Course Technologies). I would check that out on amazon.com as well as others. Read the customer reviews for various VB books so that you can make an informed decision. Good luck and welcome to VB.

This one is published by former 'The Waite Group' now 'SAMS' and is by Spenik, Indovina, ...
I am not novice in fact I have quite few years of VB experience, it's for my wife, Who wants to learn VB. She got frustrated with VB6 in 24 hours by SAMS, so I got her this one, it seems ok, but it's really hard to say before going through it more indepth, than you can do in store.
Thanks a lot for your advice.
