I want to register 2 domain names, but I'm unsure as how this works.

I want to register the names so as to make sure that I HAVE these names when I need them (most probably only in 6 months time!!).

Can I register with anyone - eg. nameboy.com??
If I register my name with eg. nameboy.com or anyone for that matter, does it mean that I HAVE to host my site with them or that it makes life difficult to move my name to the host I would eventually want to use!!??

Please can someone help as I dont want to run into any snags here - as I said, I'm very new to this "game"!!

Thanks

You can pretty much register and park the name anywhere. Some sites will offer free parking in the hopes you will host your page through them but you are usually not obligated to do so. We just registered through freedomainregistration.com then transfered the domain to our temporary host until our T1 is connected then we will be hosting our own site on our own servers.

Most hosting services that support ASP will charge extra for it and then extra per MB for the database (ASP + No Database = What's the point?).

It will cost you no more than $70 to register the domain (each) That is $35/Year 1st 2 years up front. There are many hosting services that will register for a discounted rate if you agree to have them host the site for you.
