CPU Casing is Grounded HELP!
I bought my new unit just recently and it works fine for few days. Then something just happened, when I touched the casing of my computer it has a tingling effect similar to "grounded". I had a UPS though, I can't seem to justify what is the cause of it. Is it my electricity line or what. I didn't seem to know, or was it something else...
can you solicit your theories or facts of what's the cause of this situation?

I used to have a PC that gave off a charge. I think that's one reason that most cases are plastic nowadays. Make sure that everything is grounded, including your modem/router/printer.

no, when I was getting shocked, it was not a quick spark, it was voltage whenever I touched a metal part of the case. not enough to close the muscles (which is why you should always test for live wires with the back of your hand first) but a lot more than 12 volts. it seemd like ac current, but it wasn't 110v.

Personally I'd use a multimeter.

my grandfather (an electrician by trade and a navy underwater electrician in his day) never used one. if a line was supposed to be dead, he wouldn't just assme that it was dead. he'd touch it with the back of his hand. it never affected him, except that he always said that he was 'magnetized' so that wris****ches never worked when he wore them. and no, i don't think he wore them when he did his test, although now, i wonder...
