    dynamic ip into static

hi, i have aol as my isp and i have asked them for a static ip for my mail server and web server but they say that i can't have one. i have found out that mail servers do not work when you have a dynamic ip and only work when you have a static ip and every now and again aol will dissconnect and reconnect me so i get a new ip and so i need to find out my ip every morning just to get access to my website. is there any programs that allow you to change your ip address to a static ip insted of a dhcp asigned ip (dynamic ip from aol)?

No you can't change your PC to a static IP address. But why do you use AOL if they are that bad. Every ISP in Norway let you do that. But you might have to pay more.

But you can do an other trick. At least for your webpage. Go to http://www.dyndns.org/. It will check your IP and update a record on the internet when it changes, so you don't have to do it all the time.

ok i have been using dyndns.org for a few weeks now and i have just found out that they have banned my account for updating it to much. i have been updating it every time my server had its internet connection reset. is there any sites like dyndns that dont have this policy.

You should also consider reading AOL's Acceptable Use Policy as it likely you can also be banned for running a server.
