Well heres a way you can get a free year's subscription to MSDN Library if you record the serial number off the Help...About dialog.

I've gotten my MSDN Library July 2000 edition DVDrom a few weeks back, you can chose either CD(bout 4 CDs) or DVD(1 DVD) for your library format. (if yer in a hurry, you can look at MSDN library free online at msdn.microsoft.com)

For those of you that aren't aware, Microsoft is giving away a one year subscription to MSDN if you're the owner of one of the Visual Studio development tools (VB, Interdev, C++, J++). Just go to http://msdn.microsoft.com, and click on MSDN subscriptions, and then Subscription info. Then click on the FREE MSDN icon. You can specify either CDROM or DVD. Well worth the time it takes to fill out the form.

After the first year they are not going to charge you, they may probally send a bronchure giving you some kind of discount if you chose to continue subscription, also the Exact URL is.

http://msdn.microsoft.com/subscriptions/offer/default.asp

also if you are worried about using the serial from say multiple copies, most copies share the same serial, also the enterprise edition has an unlimited lisence so it's not unlikely they will all have the same serial and have a problem, it has worked for me and several others.

heres one of the question from the FAQ about this free year subscription thing.

This offer expires on June 30, 2001. Only one free one-year MSDN Library Subscription per customer and/or Product ID.

Microsoft has amended its MSDN Library Subscription licensing terms. The new terms allow all employees within a customer's organization to freely install, access and use the contents of the MSDN Library Subscription. There is no restriction on the number of end users installing, accessing or using the MSDN Library Subscription, or the number of computers (including servers) that the MSDN Library Subscription is installed on.

Therefore if your organization has one copy of an MSDN Library Subscription you can install it on the server or copy it on your PC and you really do not need any more copies - you are licensed and legal with one copy.

Note: This license change applies to MSDN Library Subscriptions only and to no other MSDN Subscription offering. For more information, please see the Amendment to the MSDN Subscription End User License Agreement.
