Transparant avi

Can anybody tell me how to make a form transparant by playing an avi with a black (or another color) background? I want to make something like bonziBuddy, you know? (surf to http://www.bonzi.com if you don't).

I belive what the Bonzi buddy developers are doing is actually just drawing right onto the desktop hDC...that is even if they are doing it that way. What is most likely is that they have created a Microsoft Agent Character. Which is programmed to say random little things and "land" on top of windows and such. So just look into the Microsoft Agent and play with that, its pretty interesting.
