Deleting Posts
Up to now, I've always been able to delete any post I made in an existing thread.
It seems that is no longer available? Why?

Re: Deleting Posts
It's a mistake in the settings for the new PowerPoster group and it will be corrected soon.

I just did an edit on the post I made that is immediately above yours, and the ability to delete it was there. Try again.

Was it the first in a thread? Deleting threads isn't allowed for anyone but mods.
When your thread has been resolved please edit the original post in the thread ( )
and amend "-[RESOLVED]-" to the end of the title and change the icon to , Thank you.
When posting Code use the [VBCode]Code Here[/VBCode] tags to be able to use the code highlighting.

I found this out (much to my dismay I might add. I PM'd Martin and he explained the reasoning why that ability was taken away *sigh* )
The answer to your question is No, it was a post I made in an existing thread.

Yes it was the first.
How come we can't delete it.
I posted a test web app, but want to delete it so no one hits the web site anymore.
Test ActiveX Web App Thread
Thanks

You can not delete the first post of a thread. You can however edit it to take out the link your referring to.

You aren't allowed to delete it because deleting the thread means the other people who have replied to it will loose there posts too. And in such a situation deleting the thread isn't really the best thing.
Its like imagine if everytime someone had their question answered they deleted the thread it wouldn't make the forum that useful, like one strong point on this forum is if you use the search you can find the answers to quite a lot of already asked questions and it can often get you your answer quicker.
Your thread kinda falls into that area because its the whole idea of keeping an archive of everythign ....If however you make a thread by mistake contacting a mod/admin asking for it to be deleted would be possible, but this is mainly for things like you posted in the wrong section or something then we would remove it for you .
When your thread has been resolved please edit the original post in the thread ( )
and amend "-[RESOLVED]-" to the end of the title and change the icon to , Thank you.

Yeah, but images and attachments are temporary, and that is not good for the seach aspect of the forum.

If your talking about the attachment quota then thats there so at least we have a lid to stop people going over the top and abusing that we store attachments. Don't know if you've seen before but there has been quite a few people who will upload something to VBF and clearly are using us to store the file for somewhere else.
Aside from that though there is talk of the power poster group being granted a higher quota but thats not decided yet.

Re: Deleting Posts
Well... It makes sense to not delete because others can benefit.
Good idea on just editing it an removing the link.
Thanks
