NoteMe
Feb 11th, 2005, 12:53 PM
At the moment it is a mess. I am renting two servers. But I only have one domain name. www.noteme.com.

Both the servers I am renting has alternative adresses like:
http://d1132472.u71.mygisol.com/
http://63.247.129.10/~oyvost/

what I realy want is to have noteme.com to point to the small fast server. The second one here. And then all the big content of the page like apps and source code and movies and pig pictures I am hosting to be on the other server. Does that mean I have 2 options:

Buy a new domain name to point to the second server.
Just use the long link when I am adding links to the first page.

It would also be realy nice if the big server had a short name (but I hope I don't have to pay so much for it) like noteme_tmp.com or something so if anyone enters the root of that domain they get redirected to the real page that is noteme.com.

Is this possible without buying a new domain name?

[Edit]BTW I have these DNS thingys for both my servers if that helps:
> ns.ip-sys.com 63.247.129.12
> ns2.ip-sys.com 63.247.129.13

what i would do is have the small-fast is have www.noteme.com point to the small-fast server and something like download.noteme.com point to the other server.

Most providers should allow you to have mulitple child domains (www is a child domain of noteme.com, just as noteme is a child domain of com)

the www child domain can point to one server and
the download (for example) child domain could point to the other.
