I have a client that runs a vb3 program on a network. The
former developer is nowhere to be found and the client wants me to do maintenance now. I am usually programming in Delphi so I was wondering is it wise to continue in VB3 or can I switch to vb6 without a lot of problems (the program is huge ; what can I expect?). For short term: is it still possible to get a full vb3 development version somewhere ?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Going from vb3 to vb6 isn't that wise. You will run into ALOT of problems. Especially if the program uses functions that aren't available/different in vb6. You have two choices. 1) rewrite the problem areas 2)stay with vb3
As for obtaining a version of VB. Your nearest software dealer would have a version that you could pick up.

I agree, you could have tremendous problems but I'm no expert on that matter.
However, as far as getting a version of 3 that may be a problem as well. To my knowledge, when a new version comes out, all the old versions are pulled off the shelves of retail outlets and returned to MS.
If you have the numbers from the original, MS will replace lost or damaged ones with confirmation of your receipts and
key numbers.
