:blush:
My woman want me to do some math for her!
:rolleyes:
But I need help it been a long time!!!!!!!!
:cry:

* note: I am not sure how to type to the power of, so "to the" power of *
* and type it out*

Factor the polynomial into linear factors of the form (x - a), where a = zero of polynomial.
P(x) = x to the 4th + 2x to the 3rd - 7x to the 2nd - 8x - 12
* P(X) = X4 + 2X3 - 7X2 - 8X - 12 *

:blush:

Find the inverse function of f(x) = 3x - 5

:sick:
Thank for any help!

I'm not much good at calculus either but x to the 3rd can be written...

x^3

If this isn't solved by tonight, I'll use my graphics calculator (at home) to get the factors for you. :)

Thanks Wossy, I will rewrite the problems!
She wants me to do more, but that thing she calls a calculator would have to be used?
I think they have added a few buttons to calculator since I had math in collage. It is collage Algebra one (Math 110) here.

Factor the polynomial into linear factors of the form (x - a), where a = zero of polynomial.
P(X) = X^4 + 2X^3 - 7X^2 - 8X - 12

Find the inverse function of f(x) = 3x - 5

the inverse of the function f(x)=3x-5 is
y=3x-5
x=(y+5)/3
so the inverse function is :
f(x)=(x+5)/3
i don't know if that is what you meant bye the inverse function
(bye the way, the year you stopped having maths is befor the year i was born)

hey there,
I have found a solution but to a problem only slightly dissimilar to yours:

for f(x) = x^4 + 2x^3 -7x^2 - 8x +12 = 0

Note the only difference is the sign of the 12.
The solutions are: (x+3)(x-2)(x+2)(x-1)

Hope this helps. I did this by rough visual approximation and a bit of good luck in choice of quadratic factors.(in particular the cofficient of the x term!)
