Compiling Component and Keeping the Registry Clean

I have been experimenting with building a custom component in VB6, but I notice that each time I change it and recompile, there sometimes appears to be more records in the Registry related to it than before.

Is this normal? Do you get a new record added to the Registry every time you rebuild a component? How do I clean out the obsolete records without hosing my machine?
