In my "file types" I have MS IE set as the program to open HTM, HTML and SHTML files.

Whenever I run Netscape it "hijacks" these file types and makes Netscape the program to open them, and I then have to manually reset MS IE as the associated program.

This is just one of the reasons that I dislike Netscape, but when you are building a web page you have to test it under both IE and Netscape.

However, Netscape's megalomaniacal "hijacking" is driving me crazy. I can't seem to find a setting in the Netscape preferences to turn it off. Is it a registry setting?

Can anyone help me please?

I don't know about any settings, but if the problem is that you're frequently alternating between the two browsers for testing purposes, if you single-click an html file in Win9x, then hold down shift and right click it you get an 'open with' option. That might save you some hassle in case you were resetting file associations every time.

That sounds promising - I will try it when I get home this evening (I am at work at the moment).

I will report back later!

Thanks Harry
