So that I knew which providers you could use. I think there's a few Britain-only ones which are pretty good.
http://www.spaceports.com is a pretty good one. They want you to put their banner on your first page, but they actually pay you for clicks.
http://www.xeran.com is the BEST!!!
its a $31 setup fee, and $20 a month,
but they give you access to the machines C++ compiler, you can use Perl, PHP, MySQL, Mailing lists, Custom 404 pages, Dual OC48 backbones, online shell account, PW protected direcotry's, Unlimited Pop boxes.... etc.. etc...
http://www.xeran.com/hosting has most of the features, I had to email them for some of the others.....
:D

You get access to a compiler? Now that on it's own is worth paying $20 a month!

Im in the UK, how did u get it?
Domainzero.com is great....
I registered mine.. http://www.vulcandev.com
but you have to sign up for like 15 different advertisments...
luckily, I haven't recieved any yet... which is rather odd.
but there are no banners whatsoever, and unlike namezero.com domainzero has no conflict with geocities sites(there is always an error when you have namezero with geocities)
and I already thought of a domain for my business... not telling yet, so nobody steals it.....
but I am registering with http://www.aplushosting.com
its $15 dollars more per month, but it is totaly worth it... Xeran is/was way to slowwwww!!

Soon i will be doing a hosting scheme whereby u dl and run our server and all of the pages etc will be on ur machine and u wll have a permanent url like http://www.psyvision.com/(username) and it will redirect to ur home server when ur online, it will support php and asp along with our won scripts plus support for add-in modules, thanks to parksie.
But... your IP is constantly changing... how is that going to work?
you would have to have a static IP.. and you only have that when you have a BroadBand connection, and my ISP is trying to keep their broadband customers safe, so even then they will continue to change my IP everytime... um... I don't know when or how they will change it..
PS:
How does it support PHP and ASP?

Whoever mentioned crosswinds forgot to add...their ftp is ungodly slow. With a dsl lines 2 people I know and I each got only about 1.5 kps

Becuase a member of the PsYVision team has a permanent IP for the main server. When the client user starts their ftp program it send to the main server the client servers ip and the page http://www.psyvision-soft.com/(username) is replaced with a redir page going to the client server. That way they get a permanent address that changes the redir every time the server is started.

impacthosting.com is the one i use they're pretty cheap and fast and they let you use ASP on their servers.
let me know if it works for you.
Why does everybody like ASP so much?
PHP is much better...

I like PHP, but use both. It just comes down to what you need it for. If you want something fast & good, use PHP. If you have to use VB, use ASP.
