There are many you can choose from...the main one is winsock and then there is inet (bot provided with vb). I would suggest you use winsock. I assume you are trying to write an irc client? Then go to PlanetSourceCode (http://www.planetsourcecode.com) And serach for "irc clients". You'll get a long list that you can choose from...take a look at how they are made then write a better one :)
