I'm curious if anyone has any opinions on these two cards. I'm thinking about upgrading my grahpics card, currently have the Geforce 4 TI 4600 and wondering if the 9800 (regular not pro or XT) would be a descent enough upgrade to bother with.
I havn't ever used an ATI graphics card so dont really know much about them. I really want one of the Geforce 6800 GTs.. but they are a bit out of my price range right now hehe.

The Geforce Ti4600 is still a very decent card. Mine can run FarCry and Doom3 quite well. If I were you, I'd wait and just update to something very good instead of buying a brand new card that may perform just a tiny bit better.
If you have the money to throw at it, you might as well go for a Geforce 6800 or one of the newer ATi cards.
Now if the 9800 you're looking at is an all-in-wonder card, then it would be worth the upgrade since you can import all sorts of video and tv.
Then again, that's just my opinion.

Isn't Geforce 4 TI 4600 a DX8 card? Well I don't know too much about it, but from tests I have seen I guess you can expect about 25% on an intel prosessor in DX apps, and about 15%better if you have a an AMD prosessor. Radeon 9800 is a DX 9.0++ card tho. So it is more compatible with never games, so it all adds up to what you are going to use it for. I have a 9800 PRO card my self, and I would never buy a NViDIA card my self. ATI is the best. Thats at least my 2 cents. But as I said, it all boils down to what you are going to use it for.

Yeah I'm using an AMD 2600 XP-M processor. So I think I'll just save up and get one of the newer ATIs or GF 6800s if its that small of an increase.
Heck if I wait a few months they'll probably release another generation of cards and the top ones now will drop to 200 dollars or so :bigyello:
