Hi,
I have been searching the web for a way to fix winsock programatically after being corrupted by spyware (I think WebHancer does this). While uninstalling it manually would do the trick, I need a way to fix (for win 9x, ME, 2003 and XP) it through VB.
Any help is apriciated. Thanks.

You posted in the wrong forum and I'm going to move the thread, but does this (http://cexx.org/webhancer.htm) help?

You might also try posting at AntiOnline (http://www.antionline.com/index.php).

See if WinsockFix.zip (http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=257) does what you need. I had good luck using it.

Yes, there are a lot of tools like that, but what I need is the info on what they do so I can build my own...

I think this will be of some help. You could automate it if you
have the reg setting from a wroking computer that is similar, or
just re-install winsock.

Thanks RobDog.... now, I need as much exports of keys:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Winsock
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WinSock2
with a note from what OS it is :)

No prob. But MS states that the systems should be similar and
similar OS. So are they implying that the hardware matters too?
