    Looking for a laptop

    All,

I've looked all over for this and I don't want to get ripped off by Dell. Is there somewhere else I can get a laptop with these specs:

    3.x GHz Pentium4 w/HT
    7200rpm harddisk (anysize)
    128 MB Vid card
    wireless Ethernet
    wide-screen display

Lookin to spend no more than 1500.

    hehe I am in U.S.A.

World.Top is psudo-code for "Top of the World," which is where I am. So are you, if you stand up straight and take a look at your feet.

    I set up a Sager at PowerNotebooks.com:

    http://www.powernotebooks.com/catego...?catId=24#id21

    The 5960.

Anyone have experiences with this place? I set up the afore-mentioned specs for $1800 US. That's the best price so far. I wil also look at PCTorque.

Look into any of the HP laptops? My friend has a zd7000 series which is pretty nice. The 17" screen is a little to big for my tastes but its still a nice laptop. CNET gave it the best rating for a 17" laptop so far.

    zd7000 series notebook $1,549.00

Operating System Microsoft(R) Windows(R) XP Home Edition
    Processor Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 2.80A GHz

Yeah, I was at HP's Laptop configurator, but I left in disgust. Not a single configuration could be made with a 7200rpm HD. If you look at my original post, its one of my requirements.

Plus i dont know why you got so disgusted. HP seems to offer many options. Have you ever tried to configure a toshiba laptop?

Only because there was not a single option for 7200rpm harddrives. This is a requirement of mine.

Right now I'm getting set to purchase a Sager 5690 from PowerNotebooks.com for around 1800 with my required specs. 3.0GHz. Seem like a good deal?

You guys seen those bulletproof (literally) military laptops? You can drop them in water, throw them down stairs, stand on them and then play some MP3's in Windows Media Player. Although the latter is most likely to cause the machine to stop working.

Yeah i saw one while reading JDJ like three months ago. The laptop they showed was carried by some soldier when he was hit by an Iraq sniper. The laptop took the hit saving the soldier. Pretty impressive.
