Hi,
Specs (as I can remember them)
2600 AMD Athlon, Barton Core
Asus Mother board (medium spec)
Onboard sound
Asus DVD R player
Asus CD/RW
256mb Ram
GEForce 5200 Magic T 128mb Graphics card
I think the graphics card is upsetting the system cause it works fine until you try playing any 3d game. Dungeon Keeper II, Postal II, Sims 2 .. all fail. Some immediately, some after a couple mins (and non saves).
I've tried upgrading the graphics cards drivers, but the latest drivers I downloaded were not signed by MS and it warned that the system could be made (more) unstable.
I did go to the display settings and it does say its suffered a 'catastrophic error' but well see the paragraph above.
I did read on a forum or something somewhere about updating the bios... But if that goes wrong, what are the likely consequences? It's not my machine either, its the wifes which means that it has to work properly and better than before I mess around with it and without losing any details/info.
Which brings me to the Sims 2 - seems I can't back up game data onto another machine. I'll have to read up on it at some place, but I am thinking that I'll need to do this befor eI mess around with the system :)
