does anyone know how to make a person on my
webpage download a file to their desktop
without them knowing?

2 - Thats pretty F'd up if you do that to someone.

the security model allows you to do sh*& with the guys files and his computer.

If you want to have access to his data you need to make use of what is called "HTML applications". (html document with file extension .hta)
