Question Place to buy cheap computer?

Is there any website out there where I can buy a desk top system with monitor and printer for around $600?

EBay? I'd imagine that you could get a new system at major stores for around that. Maybe a litte more if you want a good monitor.

Yeah you can probably get one for around that if you want a standard CRT 15 inch monitor, and nothing fancy on the computer. Its not gonna be great for games but would work fine for surfing the web and stuff like that. The printer also would prob be a basic printer not a fancy photo printer or anything like that.

And I agree ebay would probably be about the easiest place to check.

    www.pricewatch.com

Hands down the best place to get the cheapest computer hardware in the world.

I second the nomination for pricewatch.com. I havebeen using
it for years and it is even lower than what my work can get it for
    through thier vendors.

Just look for the local companies if you have any worries about
warrenties, etc. Usually they will not honor the internet price if
you pick it up, though. Check first because they usually try to
make their profit on overcharged shipping rates.

Now PW combines the price plus shipping when sorting vendors - cheapest first - that has cut down on the phony shipping charges well.

Now you have to watch for the fine print - some vendors which are listed as cheapest are posting bulk prices.

Just a few things to watch out for. I also have been using pricewatch since 98 or ealier and have always been happy. In fact, I've had worse results on eBay than PW.

Pricewatch use to be great. But now its just a hassle. I'd rather stick with one company when ordering parts that I know has good prices on everything, dosn't over charge on shipping and delivers on time and in good condition. That place is...

    www.newegg.com

They have some of the best prices out there that I've found. Sure some pricewatch prices beat them but they are usually from small no name companies that your hesitant about ordering from because you dont know how reputable they are. Only thing pricewatch really is anymore is an advertisement system for computer part sellers. Besides if your looking for more than one part and you use pricewatch to find the best price on each part, your gonna end up paying more after all the seperate shipping charges.

The only reason I said ebay over newegg is because newegg dosn't sell complete systems they are just a parts distributor. Except they do sell notebooks.

Er, that's all it ever was, and all I hope, it ever is.

Totally false. I often set up entire systems for peeps using PW. I've literally never gotten burned using it. I think newegg is OK though.
